Description

We hear a lot about wisdom in Sacred Scripture. It is given high honor, and there is even an entire book of the Bible called Wisdom. Why is that? We hear it said that wisdom was with God in the beginning, almost as if it were a person. And of course, we hear about the wisdom of Solomon. Scripture also discusses the differences between the wisdom of the world and the wisdom of God, and how even the "foolishness of God" is wiser than the wisest of human wisdom.

Let’s explore how that plays out in today’s Scriptures for the 17th Sunday in Ordinary Time and the commentary on those readings by Dr. Peter Kreeft from his book, “Food for the Soul”, Reflections on the Mass Readings for Cycle A. Scripture readings are from the Lectionary for Mass for Use in the Dioceses of the United States of America, second typical edition, Copyright Confraternity of Christian Doctrine, Inc., used with permission. Commentary copyright Peter Kreeft, published by Word on Fire, used with permission.
