Description

What gets you out of bed in the morning? I’m not just talking about the little things like getting to say good morning to your kids or having that first cup of coffee when you first start your day. What really motivates you to get your butt out of bed and do something that means something to you?

In this week’s solo episode, I’m starting a 10-part series where we explore topics like these through the lens of personality tests and tools that aid in career development. The first topic I’m covering is lesser known in the Western world, but is just as important to consider if you’re at a turning point in your life and want to discover your passion and purpose.

The concept this week is called Ikigai (ee-key-gahy), a Japanese principle that is your reason for living. Everyone has one, and with a simple exercise that we go over in the episode, everyone can easily discover at least one thing that is their Ikigai.

Come along for this series to get practical tools and tips for finding your purpose and getting on the path to career fulfillment.

Key Topics:

  1. What is Ikigai?
  2. The 4 pillars of Ikigai and how to visualize it
  3. Digging deeper beyond the surface
  4. The 9 Ikigai verbs according to Tim Tamashiro
  5. Ikigai is a journey you can come back to over and over again
