In this episode, I take you back to where it all began by revisiting the very first question I had when I started Resume. Whether you're new to the podcast or a seasoned listener, this episode offers a heartfelt dive into the struggle of finding purpose and career happiness.
As we move into the middle of January, that infamous slump period, I revisit a question that gave me anxiety even as a kid: What do you want to be when you grow up? I share my personal journey of wanting to be everything from an actress to a veterinarian, only to find that the question grew more stressful over time.
Fast forward to college and the overwhelming pressure of choosing a major, I felt like I was never exceptional at anything. Graduating during the 2009 recession only added to the chaos.
I recount my first job experience and the lessons I learned from taking a job out of necessity rather than passion. I then share the pivotal moments that eventually led me to start recruiting remotely while pursuing acting classes. This journey illuminated my need for flexibility and creative outlets, ultimately leading me to discover my current purpose — career coaching and this podcast!
The journey was not linear, but it underscored the importance of staying open to new opportunities, embracing change, and continuously experimenting to find what truly lights you up from within. So, let's embrace the journey together and uncover our evolving purposes.
