In our society, the pressure to look a certain way goes FAR beyond the size of our bodies. Especially as women.
We have to carefully consider our clothes, our hair, makeup, and even our bone structure! How in the world are we supposed to keep up with what's "on trend" nowadays?!
In this episode, Connie I talk about all things self-expression as it relates to the nuances of the beauty industry. I don't know about you, but I sure as hell don't know where to start when it comes to "finding my style" as an almost-30-year-old woman. For somebody who has lived a majority of her life trying to "dress to impress" or use makeup to hide my insecurities...it's really overwhelming to think about using fashion as an oppertunity for healthy self-expression, or using makeup or even a skincare routine as an oppertunity for self-care.
As somebody who even went as far as getting cosmetic surgery to enhance her aesthetic, Connie has an incredibly unique perspective on this topic. Was it really for herself, or was it because she grew up being bullied for features that she thought she couldn't control? Even though she grew up loving fashion and makeup, at the end of the day, who are we really doing this for?
This was an amazing (and incredibly healing) conversation - I can't wait for you to tune in!
