In this episode, I take on the buzzword everyone loves to post about: vulnerability. I am all for being real, but somewhere along the way, we confused leadership with live-journaling our breakdowns on social media. I break down the difference between honest transparency and emotional dumping, and why context matters. The way you are vulnerable with your spouse is not how you should be vulnerable with your team.
We talk about the leader's job in hard moments: inspire, stabilize, and provide clarity. Your people do not need to carry your burdens to trust you. They need direction, standards, and a steady hand. I share practical guardrails for sharing just enough to be human without turning staff meetings into group therapy, plus a simple test to decide what to share, when, and with whom.
Bottom line: handle your battles in private, show up in public with strength, and use your words to move people forward. Be real, be honest, but do not overshare. Leadership is not about you. It is about who you are leading. Be the person your team can lean on, not the person your team has to carry.
