"I am the Emily. I speak for the uteruses. I have to cut out my uterus, but it's only to get rid of the adenomyosis that is attacking it. Sometimes these things hit all at once. I realize I'm really happy to be recording a podcast and talking to others who understand this, who probably have these same frustrations and perhaps for the first time is hearing somebody say them out loud." — Emily, 1(!) Day Until Uterus Eviction Day

In This Episode:
I'm recording this after watching virtual church. I identify as "Agnostic AF" and found the Unitarian Universalist church after Googling "church for agnostics." It's become almost like a weekly philosophy and music club for me, and it's nice to have a supportive community like that.
I definitely needed this morning of self-care and watching a positive service reminding me to look for happiness. If you're prepping for your hysterectomy, I hope you're able to take some time for yourself, as well.
Mentally collecting things that make "a lovely day" is one of my ways of creating that happiness on a regular basis.
I'm not able to take my daily allergy pill and, considering the ebbs and flows of viruses, I'm constantly worrying I'm getting sick right before surgery.
Book mentioned: "Delay, Don't Deny" by Gin Stephens about Intermittent Fasting
Despite the business, I'm also trying to appreciate the gifts I've enjoyed, like my husband looking forward to cooking more while I'm recovering. I'd like to give an extra shout-out to "The Bear" for inspiring his latest joy of cooking phase. No spoilers, but I talk a bit about the Season 2 episode "Forks" and it's probably one of my favorite episodes of television now.
Note from Future-Emily:
It's 7 months since the hysterectomy and I'm still trying to find ways to practice gratitude on a daily basis, lately, it's been journaling by hand again and making gratitude notes one of the first things I write about every day. Also, check out this week's Bonus Episode to hear more about my experience with my hysterectomy and weight gain.
