In this series on Representation, we examine our lived experiences and perspectives as it relates to representation. This series focused on the significance of representation, how we navigate the complexities of life when there is a lack of representation, and how to create opportunities for dialogue and discussion to establish representation.
In this episode, some of the themes covered are:
Frustrated about how racism can be above humanity and "caring for your neighbor."
Understand the cultural communication styles and social cues
Where is the compassion when you provide a service and care for our communities
Diverse mental health support and insight to support law enforcement
What do we say, and what do we do?
Representation requires words, actions, and deeds. What are we intentionally doing?
How are we allowing people to be seen, heard, or valued?
Are you operating in asset-based or deficit thinking?
How can I reach you?
Do not take things personally when you provide care and service.
What is the reason why I am here? What is my why?
Give your best, or do not do it. You are obligated to love those you serve.
How are you treating my loved ones?
How do we create a checklist for serving and supporting individuals?
What is the employment onboarding and evaluation process for jobs?
What about the partners and their voices?
How do we de-escalate situations?
Creating a culture of collaboration
Be a professional and use your voice.
Find the language to express yourself without being physical
Live your why before formal request or demand
It may not be for you if you cannot give your full attention or potential.

Humans are individuals, so we know everyone is not the same
