Description

Welcome to episode 100 of this crazy podcast that’s about to have a rebrand. Or rather, a retro brand.

Let me ‘splain.

Episode 1 of the Gratitude Geek podcast went live on January 1, 2014. It was a conversation with an organizing professional about how New Year’s Resolutions are a very bad idea. Podcasting seemed like a great next step after hosting a YouTube talk show called Coffee, Cards & Conversations where I interviewed business owners in a local coffee shop about how they use greeting cards in their marketing plan.

If you are a long-time listener, you already know the rest of the story. For new listeners, here’s the short version.

Just 3 months after launching the weekly podcast, I was told an aggressive tumor had invaded my right breast. I name the tumor Bertha and went to work kicking her out.

Bertha didn’t deter me from podcasting! We even launched a second show, called Handmade in Texas! That one didn’t quite take off, though.

And then, in September of 2015, we learned that Bertha had metastasized to my left lung and treatment started all over again. This time, chemo was brutal, leaving me unable to walk unassisted for several days after treatment.

So, I had to slow down a bit.

We continued to record both the talk show and the podcast sporadically until 2017 when we moved to Michigan to retire (said in air quotes).

Then the pandemic hit and as the world was in limbo I realized I missed podcasting. I rebooted and rebranded to Be Who you Want to Be: You Business, Your Life. And now 58 episodes later, I realize the rebrand wasn’t necessarily the best idea for the kind of show I want to put out into the world.

While I’ve very much enjoyed the amazing conversations I’ve had over the past 18 months, I know I can do better.

So I’m reclaiming Gratitude Geek!

Going forward this show is all about gratitude… gratitude in our lives, gratitude in our businesses, and gratitude in the messages we tell the world.

You’ve heard me say it before, Gratitude is like manure, it’s just a pile of crap until you spread it around!

I hope you’ll join me on my mission to spread gratitude, sow seeds of appreciation and harvest a bounty of generosity and kindness.

Moment of Gratitude

Huge shout out to Soul Lily, the singer-songwriter from Conroe, Texas who so graciously allowed me to use her songs “What are We Waiting For” and “Never Give Up” as my theme music for all these many years.

Stick and around for a few minutes and enjoy the full studio versions of both songs. And be sure to check the show notes at MomGeek.com/100 for a link to follow SoulLily on Soundcloud.

Enjoy the music be sure to tune in next week for a new and awesome interview with another gratitude geek!
