Forgiveness is a messy topic because by nature it taps into the most inner parts of the human condition, and sits within a multitude of extremes. From those who have experienced the most unfathomable of crimes, to the more familiar stories of family conflict, bullying or everyday disputes, forgiveness is complex.
So, how do we learn to cope with what has happened to us, but also what we have done to others? Why are some of us more able to forgive than others? What does true forgiveness feel like and how do we forgive ourselves?
Not easy questions to answer and is why I hope the next few episodes may help you to have a deeper understanding around your own experience of forgiveness, and even perhaps look at what has gone before, as a gift to free yourself and others.
My first guest in this exploration of forgiveness is Sam Jalloh, a war survivor whose story is one full of determination and inspiration. Sam found forgiveness through his love for tennis which he says not only saved his life, but also motivated him to spread his message of forgiveness as an antidote to hate.
