Description

The hashtag ‘wellness’ has over 70 million posts on Instagram and is an industry worth trillions of dollars. Influencers, celebrities and major brands have infiltrated our lives with their carefully curated and very glossy social media posts.

In pursuit of being a new and improved version of myself, I have in the past found myself falling for the unattainable ideals that the wellness culture promotes. Wasting too much money and time, I’ve invested in products and trends that left me feeling more than inadequate and definitely not well.

But imagine you are a young girl starting out in a highly competitive industry full of unrealistic and unhealthy ideals? How do you avoid succumbing to the next quick fix or the false promises that the wellness culture encourages?

My guest this week is Sarah Ann Macklin- a model, entrepreneur and founder of The Be Well Collective - an organisation she created to provide mental health and nutritional support to young adults working within the creative industries. Sarah has used her own experience of navigating wellness to help others create a relationship with themselves, that is less about expensive gimmicks and more about nourishing the mind, body and spirit.

I hope you enjoyed this episode of Flip It, and if you did I would be hugely grateful if you could rate, review and subscribe. It really will help me to discover and share more stories and voices that deserve to be heard.
