"We cannot choose our external circumstances, but we can always choose how we respond to them". `Epictetus
In this week's episode of the Don't Die Rusty Podcast we have a conversation with Tomy and Dara Parker. Tomy joined the Marine Corp in 2009 and was deployed with the 3rd Battalion, 5th Regiment to Afghanistan in 2010. On December 11th, 2010 Tomy was injured when he stepped on an improvised explosive device while on patrol in Afghanistan, losing both his legs. This would be a story unto itself but this isn't the conversation I wanted to have, the conversation Rick wanted was after the injury happened.
Rick wanted to hear the story of Tomy's life after returning to civilian life in Montana, and how he would eventually recover from a heavy drug addiction. Most of all, Rick wanted to hear about Tomy's love of his life, Dara, who had the strength and belief to help get Tomy back to the man she knew and eventually marry him.
Rick and Ricky feel so lucky to have these types of Don't Die Rusty conversations and if something in this episode doesn't strike a chord with you, then this might not be the place for you. As the title states. Authenticity, Love and Belief are stalwarts of many of the Don't Die Rusty conversations and this conversation is not lacking in any of those words. So push play and listen to an amazing conversation.
