A Prayer for the Gardens of Spring and the Soul
© 4/16/2026 ~ Julie Carrick
Heavenly Father,
Author of every season and Giver of all life,
we praise You for the quiet miracle of spring
for the earth awakening beneath our feet,
for seeds long hidden now rising in hope,
for blossoms that speak of Your beauty
and fields that promise nourishment yet to come.
You who have written resurrection into creation,
teach us to see with attentive hearts
the mystery unfolding in our gardens:
what was planted in faith in the fall
now stirred to life by Your gentle hand.
In every green shoot and tender leaf,
remind us that nothing entrusted to You is
ever lost.
As we till the soil and tend what grows,
grant us diligence and reverence
to water with care, to nourish with patience,
to protect what is fragile,
and to trust the hidden work we cannot see.
And, Lord, as we labor in the gardens of the earth,
draw us ever deeper into the garden of our souls.
In this radiant season of Easter,
awaken in us the new life won through Your Son
a life not bound by death, but rising in grace.
Where our hearts are dry, send Your living water.
Where weeds of distraction or sin take root,
give us courage to remove them.
Where growth is slow or unseen,
teach us to wait with hope and perseverance.
May Your Word be the seed planted within us,
Your Sacraments the rain and nourishment we need,
and Your Spirit the warmth that brings forth fruit
in abundance and in beauty.
So that, in time, both our gardens and our lives
may bear a harvest that feeds others
a harvest of generosity, joy, faith, and love.
We entrust all we plant, all we tend, and all we are
into Your loving care,
through the Risen Christ, Our Lord,
in whom all things are made new.
Amen
