This episode is about what happens when the boundary between you and what you're creating starts to disappear.
"Somewhere Along the Way" was inspired by a moment from Jim & Andy: The Great Beyond, where Jim Carrey describes losing himself in the role of Andy Kaufman.
That idea—of becoming the work rather than controlling it—changed how I approached this song.
In this episode, I break down:
• What happens when identity and creation start to overlap
• The difference between forcing something and letting it emerge
• How influence shapes output in subtle ways
• What it means when the work feels like it's coming through you
The song is just the example.
The real topic is what happens when you stop trying to control the process—and something else takes over.
Because sometimes the best work doesn't feel like it's made—
it feels like it's discovered.

Relief from where we hide
Grasping on while we slide
Step through the door not knowing
What's on the other side
Somewhere along the way
I got lost and found my way
Somewhere in the middle of
Absolute confusion to
Somewhere in the middle of
Disappointment to conclusion
Traveling through America
Draw a line down this is that
We are so much more than
The place and name we're born into
I didn't just give them up
I didn't need to be held together
I don't want to go back to
Heart break, problems and fair weather
