In the past couple of weeks I've dreamed about lemons, laundry, legs and liars all drawing my attention to the underlying nature of things. The night life is kind of like Forest Gump's box of chocolates: you never know what you're going to get!
In light of the latest wave of ministry scandal exposures, it's the perfect time to talk about one of my favorite types of dreams. I've released episodes on diagnostic and warning dreams, which are similar, but when a dream shows me something I couldn't know about a person or situation, and especially when it is contrary to what seems naturally true, I consider it a discernment dream.
I believe discernment is something we are all being called to level up in right now, and it's seriously a superpower! God is constantly speaking through His Spirit, and hearing His voice is one of the greatest privileges we have as His children. We are all growing in this, and none of us are batting 1000 so when we do make a mistake, there is no shame, just an opportunity to repent and determine to be more receptive hearers and doers next time.
It's getting harder to separate what is real from what is not these days, but thankfully we aren't left to figure it out on our own. God is constantly speaking to us through His Word and His Spirit that lives inside of us who belong to Him. His counsel can come through dreams, visions, thoughts, impressions, and so many other ways. We are all called to grow in maturity in this area – not by becoming fearful or cynical, but by deep, abiding relationship with Him.
