From a trauma perspective, feeling shame when you yourself didn't do anything wrong it's often the internalized harm of another.
As such, when we feel shame for our intersecting privileges at the end of the world — we're often the internalizing the shame of a harmful system. A system we didn't create. A system that doesn't represent us.
Yes, we all have to untangle our allegiances to systems of harm.
But also?
We have to untangle the belief that as individuals, the harm of the system is all our fault.
Today's episode is for you if you struggle with that. If you tend to over-hold systemic inequity, take responsibility for the whole wide world.
This is a rally cry to turn all that care into creative action versus shame-based avoidance.
