Rivian's E-Bike Reveal
ALSO, the micromobility spin-off from Rivian, has launched its first products: an e-bike and two electric pedal-assisted quads. ALSO is creating Transcendent Mobility technology, starting with the TM-B (Transcendent Mobility – Bike), Consumer TM-Q, and Commercial TM-Q. The TM-Q variants share a largely identical drive system to the TM-B with release dates yet to be announced. The bike features a new pedal-by-wire drivetrain called "DreamRide" developed in-house, which allows the rider to pedal a generator, which replenishes the battery. Offering up to 100 miles in range, the removable battery offers USB-C fast charging up to 240 watts. As a Class 3 e-bike, it has a pedal-assisted top speed of 28mph and regenerative breaking, which could extend range by 25%. The TM-B can be preordered now for $4,500 with delivery slated for spring 2026. and a spring 2026 delivery, Awith a $4,000 edition is expected to launch later next year.
WattEV Unveils Solid-State Transformer
Last week WattEV unveiled a Solid-State Transformer (SST), a compact medium voltage power conversion system (MV-PCS) designed to accelerate deployment of MCS fast chargers. The MV-PCS was developed as a replacement for step-down transformer, switchgear, and low voltage rectifiers. The new system is designed for convenient installation on service islands between pass-through lanes, offering megawatt charging to MCS-capable trucks. Unlike conventional 480-volt systems, the integrated design simplifies components and reduces installation costs by having the medium-voltage line split via junction boxes and connected directly into the liquid-cooled SST cabinet. The SST offers a practical, cost-effective solution for deploying megawatt infrastructure, helping stations come online faster and scale predictably. WattEV has completed its proprietary SST design and expects units to be available in 2026.
Pennsylvania's Charging Achievement
Earlier this month, Pennsylvania opened its 20th EV charging station at a Sheetz in Pittsburgh using federal funds from the National Electric Vehicle (NEVI) program. PA now leads the nation for the most chargers built using NEVI funds—and representing a total federal investment of approximately $11.5 million.
"CALSTART congratulates Governor Josh Shapiro and PennDOT for being the first state in the nation to receive a Full-Build Certification," said Alissa Burger, Regional Policy Director, CALSTART.
This certification means the Commonwealth can now move beyond the initial phase of the NEVI program that focused on building charging stations on the core network of interstate highways; now allowing the state to launch the next phase of spending, the Corridor Connections program. The program as initially outlined by PennDOT will be a $20 million funding opportunity. It that is expected to support more than 1000 miles of major roadways to strengthen long-distance travel outside of previously designated Alternative Fuel Corridors.
