Terawatt Offers Heavy-Duty Charging in Rialto
Terawatt Infrastructure's newest commercial EV charging hub is now operational in Rialto, California. Located on the eastbound side of I-10, the Rialto site enables EV fleets to keep trucks moving across one of the nation's busiest freight corridors. Built to meet the demands of commercial fleet operations, Terawatt's Rialto facility provides high-speed charging, secure access, and driver-friendly amenities in one location. The site includes:
18 pull-through 350kW DC fast-charging stalls
55 bobtail parking stalls for overnight parking, shift changes, and logistics needs
Driver lounge building featuring Wi-Fi, climate control, and restrooms
License plate recognition for seamless entry
Solar canopies and 100% renewable energy powering every session
24/7 security with 360-degree cameras and gated access to protect vehicles, cargo, and drivers
Terawatt is building a connected network that keeps vehicles charged, lowers emissions, and helps fleets stay on the road without the expense of building and running their own depots. The Rialto facility opening adds to Terawatt's growing heavy-duty charging hubs across California, building upon its first medium- and heavy-duty charging site opened earlier this year in Rancho Dominguez.
RIZON Expands U.S. Footprint
More than 20 RIZON vehicles have entered service across California for municipal, hospitality, real estate, and fuel distribution operations, showcasing the Daimler-owned OEM's versatility as an electrification solution. At the same time, the company added authorized dealerships in Arizona, New York, New Jersey, and Washington State to strengthen sales and service coverage nationwide.
"Seeing RIZON trucks at work in such a wide range of industries, from municipal services to hospitality and fuel delivery, underscores the practicality of electric trucks in everyday operations," said Alex Voets, general manager of RIZON USA. "Our expanding customer base and dealership network show that more fleets are recognizing the environmental and operational benefits of going electric."
Toyota Boosts Hybrid Production with Major Investments
As a part of Toyota's recent commitment to invest up to $10 billion in the U.S. over the next five years, the company recently announced a $912 million investment and 252 new jobs across five manufacturing plants to increase hybrid capacity and bring hybrid-electric Corollas to its production lineup. This investment in Toyota's plants in West Virginia, Kentucky, Mississippi, Tennessee and Missouri further builds on the company's ongoing commitment to reinvesting profits in its U.S. operations. Currently, Toyota assembles about half of the vehicles it sells in the U.S., with North American manufacturing facilities assembling more than three-quarters (76 percent) of the vehicles it sells in the U.S. Toyota's multi-pathway powertrain approach continues to drive steady growth in electrified vehicles, including hybrids, plug-ins and all- electric, which now account for nearly 50 percent of the company's U.S. sales.
Harbinger Raises $160 Million in Funding
Major news in medium-duty fleet electrification: Harbinger just closed a $160M Series C round co-led by FedEx, Capricorn Investment Group, and THOR Industries, Inc.—with FedEx is backing its investment with an initial order for 53 electric vehicles! 🚛
As the medium-duty sector continues to move from pilot programs to commercial-scale adoption, here's what makes Harbinger's offerings significant for fleets:
• Acquisition price parity - Acquisition costs competitive with diesel vehicles
• Flexible range options - 140 to 220+ miles to match specific duty cycles
• Built for commercial use - Built as a true EV platform, not a retrofit
• American-made - Manufactured in-house in the U.S. with vertically integrated production
Harbinger has now raised $358M total, reflecting strong industry confidence that practical, durable medium-duty EVs are here. Whether you operate delivery fleets or specialty vehicles, this is the kind of scaled deployment that paves the way for broader adoption.
CALSTART is proud to support Harbinger's mission to accelerate zero-emission transportation and help revolutionize and modernize the clean energy economy. Working alongside Chris Brown, Harbinger's Head of Government Affairs, we're seeing firsthand how CALSTART member companies are driving the next wave of electrification and shaping the future of clean transportation in America.
