Walt Disney's visit to Neuschwanstein Castle in the Bavarian Alps is often cited as a key source of inspiration for the iconic Disney Castle, which appears in the company logo and in many of the Disney theme parks. Neuschwanstein is a fairytale-like structure built by King Ludwig II of Bavaria in the late 19th century. The wacky story of Ludwig, however, is often forgotten - yet it is one that perhaps belongs in a fairytale - well, at least he would have hoped that it would.
