John Quincy Adams, the sixth president of the United States (1825-1829), was a remarkable figure whose contributions and significance to American history extended far beyond his presidency. In fact, the son of the second President might have been the most qualified person to wield the office—even though he was denied a second term. Following his time as President, JQA plunged himself into a second career in Congress, which proved just that.
