U.S. Trade Representative Jamieson Greer said the US and China are quote "about halfway there" on making a deal to ensure access to rare earths and magnets flows from China to the US. Those trade talks continue. But the fact that we're only halfway there is not only a problem for the U.S. but China's leverage in this area is recognized as a vulnerability for countries around the world. As a result, in an attempt to secure its supply of materials needed for defense and other technologies, Australia is considering establishing a price floor for key minerals said its Resources Minister Madeleine King. Analysts had expected such a move from other countries after the US surprise announcement that it would guarantee a price floor for rare-earth minerals produced by MP Materials, and it seems Australia may be the first mover in this materials battle against China's minerals dominance. Nevada Gold Mines and Komatsu are partnering to enhance safety and efficiency through Komatsu's FrontRunner Autonomous Haulage System. Nevada Gold Mines, a joint venture between Barrick and Newmont will be automating its fleet of 300 and 230 tonne haul trucks across its surface operations. The collaboration is the first implementation of the system for both companies within the United States.
