In this episode of the podcast, I talk with Dr. Nathalie Fuentes, a Senior Scientist at AstraZeneca in Maryland. Dr. Fuentes is a highly accomplished scientist with a B.S. in Biochemistry from Iowa State University, a Ph.D. in Biological and Biomedical Sciences from Penn State College of Medicine, and a Postdoc at the NIH. She has worked in labs all over the world and has published 15 papers and counting.
Dr. Fuentes is also passionate about giving back to students and people who are historically excluded in STEM from when she was a student and part of SHPE. She is also a member of several organizations that promote diversity in STEM, including the McNair Program, STEP-UP NIH program, and IINSPIRE LSAMP. She stresses the importance of networking and taking advantage of research and internships to broaden your experiences. She is also passionate about helping students with their resumes, CVs, and cover letters.
