"Count it all joy, my [sisters], when you meet trials of various kinds, for you know that the testing of your faith produces steadfastness. And let steadfastness have its full effect, that you may be perfect and complete, lacking in nothing." -- James 1:1-4
Whether Christian or not, religious or not, you can likely find inspiration in this scripture from the English Standard version of the Bible -- especially if you're an entrepreneur.
You have undoubtedly faced many trials along the way to creating the business of your dreams. (And if you haven't yet, I would argue that you're not playing big enough -- but that's a whole other episode.) And even with those trails, whether it's because you're crazy or you have crazy faith (or a little bit of both!), you keep going, and you somehow find the joy in it.
This week, I was reminded by the inspiring, fascinating women entrepreneurs that I had the pleasure of interviewing to remember to count it all joy -- no matter the circumstance, challenge, upset or disappointment. It will pass, and it will only make you stronger, a better woman and a better entrepreneur. I didn't realize how much I needed to hear that message until it came to me throughout this week's string of interviews. (Thank you, Universe.)
And thank you to Carrie Sheffield, Carmen Daniels Jones, Shantrelle P. Lewis and Wendy Wollner (who actually said "Add laughter to your to-do list") for those beautiful reminders.
And for you, no matter what you're going through, whatever the challenge, no matter how fast and sometimes furious they seem to come, remember: Count it all joy. This is only PART of your journey. Your job? Keep going.
With joy,
Elayne
