A couple months ago we went on an incredible trip to Indonesia, where we explored the Flores Islands, home of the Komodo dragons! We also returned to Ubud, Bali, one of our favorite places on earth. It’s a bustling vegan world over there, with phenomenal food options and a lot of focus on sustainability. The tropical climate affords bountiful plant-based options, and our quest to explore the possibility of a raw vegan diet.
We decided to take our microphone with us, just in case we felt inspired. One evening, we decided to go to this new vegan place called a Moksa, just on the perimeters of Ubud. The restaurant is surrounded by a little sanctuary made up of art and yoga studios as well as a permaculture farm which supplies a large number of the ingredients that end up on the guests plates for lunch, dinner and brunch.
Enchanted by our experience, we decided we needed to get Chef Madé, the culinary and creative genius behind Moksa, on our podcast. His story is one of transformation, embracing change and deeply caring about the impact he can make on people with food. While living thousands of miles away from us, and having grown up in a different country and culture, we were able to deeply understand and relate to Chef Madé’s mission to change the world through real and amazing food.
