John Fox McNally was born on July 20, 1945 to Daniel and Jeanette McNally. He grew up in Wauwatosa, Wisconsin with his mother and brother, Dennis. His father passed away in 1952. John went to Marquette University High School and then onto St. Norbert's College, or as he likes to refer to it, the Harvard of the Midwest. He moved home after college and later graduated from Marquette University Law School after serving as a member of the National Guard. John married Susan Mary Jones, the sister of his brother Dennis' wife Kathy – this is indeed legal in Wisconsin – in August of 1974. They have lived in Wauwatosa their entire married life where they raised 6 children and now have 10 grandchildren. John continues to practice law in Milwaukee, he enjoys spending time at his lake home in Oconomowoc, golfing, purchasing foreign cars he doesn't need, and spending time with his growing family.
