John Urschel is not your typical doctoral candidate. Before studying mathematics at MIT, Urschel played college football for Penn State and then in the NFL for three seasons with the Baltimore Ravens. Mathematics and football have always been central focuses in his life. He discusses the challenges of juggling both and why he ultimately left football to pursue his PhD.
