It is widely known for the National Baseball Hall of Fame and Museum, with its interactive exhibits, artifacts and iconic Plaque Gallery. With a population of about 2,000 people, Cooperstown is a quaint community that draws a staggering 500,000 visitors each year for a variety of reasons. Baseball is the biggest draw for sure – especially during the town’s annual Baseball Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony every July which immortalizes the greatest baseball players of all-time. During this July-weekend of festivities alone, depending on who is being inducted, there have been as many as 100,000 baseball fanatics crammed into this enchanting place. A part from the Hall of Fame and its annual popular ceremony, baseball families gravitate to this area of New York the entire summer to play at Cooperstown Dreams Park and Cooperstown All-Star Village which are two separate (and competing) immaculate youth baseball facilities that host weekly tournaments for 12-year-old kids from all around the country. The two of us played in these unforgettable tournaments when we were kids and Rick continued to return each summer for a week at a time the past decade umpiring these tournaments.
