The 1972 Summer Olympic Games were supposed to be a time of joyful competition. As athletes gathered from around the world, the German government actively tried to create a “carefree” environment. But early in the morning of September 5, terrorists forced their way into the athlete's dorms, intent on holding the Israeli team hostage.
