His parents had a family business. However, just a few years after joining the business, his dad unexpectedly passed away. Suddenly, he had what felt like the weight of the world on his shoulders. He had to lead the business with no preconceived notion of "the way things are done" in the industry. He was struggling to the point where the city briefly shut them down, shattering his world. But he just naively started to solve problems, and that was the magic.

She founded Northwest Battle Buddies in 2012 after experiencing firsthand the healing and hope which can come from the partnership between a combat veteran with PTSD and a trained service dog. Herself the daughter of a Korean war veteran, Shannon’s goal is battling PTSD, to provide a life-saving gift and say thank you for her freedom.
