Ohio State's defensive line has a "Rushmen" package when the Buckeyes deploy four D-ends at the same time.
However, analyzing Ohio State's defensive line as a whole, an accurate nickname might be "The Crushmen." Why? Because this group is loaded with experience and talent, and might be the deepest D-line to come through Columbus. Which, would be saying a lot considering some of the deep defensive lines we've seen from OSU over the years.
The group is especially deep at defensive tackle, where a guy like Antwuan Jackson might be the seventh-best D-tackle on the squad. Yes, a former 5-star recruit who is coming off a good spring is probably behind the likes of BB Landers, Davon Hamilton, Tommy Togiai, Jashon Cornell, Taron Vincent and Haskell Garrett in the pecking order. And that's not a knock against Jackson. It is to illustrate the incredible depth of this unit.
Oh, and Larry Johnson's crew is plenty deep and talented at defensive end as well, led by All-American candidate Chase Young.
The People's Champ, Matt Baxendell, joins Dave Biddle on today's show for a close look at the defensive line, plus:
* What type of scheduling philosophy should Ohio State have for non-conference games? Play as tough a schedule as possible, or try and set up as many easy wins as possible? What is best for the fans? What is best for the program?
* Will we be rooting for Tate Martell at Miami this year?
* What are expectations for Justin Fields' first season as Ohio State's starting quarterback?
All of that and more is coming at you on the Wednesday extravaganza.
