1970 meant the most colourful spectacle on Earth: the FIFA World Cup held in Mexico. England were reigning champions, Brazil had a lad called Pele, Europe brought its heavyweights in Italy, West Germany and Soviet Union and the Latin countries of Mexico, Peru and Uruguay had homefield advantage.
