On The Paddock and The Pavilion, we love inspiring series. We’ve had jockey Gavin Ashton’s five-part The road to recovery, and we have recently been featuring Jenny Thompson promoting women’s cricket on her world cricket tour.
Joining us for our latest is Hermione Drummond Moray a young former event rider who is currently training to ride in the Macmillan ride of their lives charity race at York racecourse on Saturday 15 June. Hermione is one of twelve amateur jockeys who is set to ride in front of 30,000 spectators on race day in support of Macmillan Cancer.
In part 1 of 4 find out how Hermione is embracing the challenge of riding on the Knavesmire, the commitment involved and how fit she needs to be.
Joining Part 1 you will also hear from Amy Swales, the head of community engagement at York Racecourse and Glen Reed a strength and conditioning coach at the Injured Jockeys Fund in Newmarket.
