On this week’s ’Cut to the Race’ podcast, Sam, Cal and Abby dissect the Emilia Romagna Grand Prix at Imola which saw an action-packed weekend and the first sprint race of the season.

We review the build-up to the race including Qualifying, the Sprint Race and the Grand Prix which saw Red Bull’s first 1-2 since Malaysia 2016.

Verstappen and Perez battled with Leclerc and Sainz, who both had a tough weekend at Ferrari’s home race. The winners and losers are dissected with Mercedes and McLaren being popular topics of conversation, particularly Lewis Hamilton’s less than stellar performance and Lando Norris’ lonely race.

Fernando Alonso was sporting a new floor but his race was compromised by Mick Schumacher. We assess the latter’s performance and other key aspects of the midfield, like Alpha Tauri’s unexpected race. Technicalities like the Safety Car and DRS are also mentioned and how they affected the weekend race result.
