Our current Governor General, Mary Simon has made a career of advocating for the Inuit and Indigenous of Canada's North. The first Inuk ambassador in Canadian history, she is also Canada's first Indigenous Governor General. She is also the first Canadian Governor General since Lord Tweedsmuir in 1936 to represent more than one monarch.
