On this edition of Up Close, we break down the race for New York City mayor and its leading candidates ahead of the June primary election.
Just like in the last several years, it's another crowded field of candidates for mayor of New York City.
Primary day is just nine days away, and when he was elected four years ago, incumbent Mayor Eric Adams called himself the face of the new Democratic Party. Adams, however, is no longer running as a Democrat, deciding to run as an Independent in the race after the Trump Justice Department dropped its felony federal corruption charges against him.
Meanwhile, former New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo, who resigned after allegations of sexual harassment, is now trying to make a political comeback in the Democratic primary. Cuomo faces several other candidates in the race for the Democratic nomination.
The winner will face Eric Adams in November - the 110th mayor who is fighting for a second term.
