Governor Kathy Hochul is declaring war on the GOP, threatening to change congressional districts in New York in favor of electing more Democrats.
Her tough talk follows her meeting with Texas Democratic lawmakers locked in a redistricting battle in the Lone Star State.
They fled the state to avoid a vote after Texas' governor pushed to redraw districts to elect more Republicans.
On this edition of Up Close, Mike Marza talked to the only Republican member of Congress from New York City, Nicole Malliotakis.
She represents a swing district, and it could swing more blue if Democrats in Albany redraw the congressional lines.
Also joining the show is Democratic Congressman Adriano Espaillat with his take on redistricting.
He also talks about the race for New York City mayor.
In the primary, Espaillat endorsed former Governor Andrew Cuomo, but in the general election, he is backing Zohran Mamdani.
