खेड्यांतून असलेली बलुतेदारी ही मुळात उत्पादन व्यवस्था नव्हती तर जाती व्यवस्था होती. तिथे स्केल सुद्धा नव्हती आणि नवीन कल्पना सुद्धा नव्हत्या. म्हणून इथे नवीन शोध लागले नाहीत. ह्या काळात भारतीय शेतीत झालेला एकमेव बदल म्हणजे मिरची सारखी नवीन पिके. त्याला मागणी आणि बाजारपेठा असल्यामुळे शेतकऱ्यांनी या पिकांची लागवड केली.
The Twelve Balutedar system was not the production system. It was a caste system. There was a lack of scale and innovations. During that period the only change happened in Indian Agriculture was adoption of new crops like chilli. Farmers started cultivating chillies because of the demand and market for chillies.
