लक्ष्मणा मद्र की राजकुमारी थीं और श्रीकृष्ण से प्रेम करती थीं तथा उनसे विवाह करना चाहती थीं। जब लक्ष्मणा के पिता ने अपनी पुत्री के लिए स्वयंवर का आयोजन किया तो धनुर्विद्या की परीक्षा रखी।
लक्ष्मणा के स्वयंवर में उपस्थित जरासंध और दुर्योधन परीक्षा में असफल रहे। अर्जुन ने अपने मित्र के मन की बात जानकर जान बूझकर निशाना नहीं भेदा और भीम ने परीक्षा में भाग लेने से ही मना कर दिया। अंततः श्रीकृष्ण ने सही निशाना लगाकर लक्ष्मणा से विवाह किया।
लक्ष्मणा ने अपने स्वयंवर की यह कथा द्रौपदी को सुनाई थी।
लक्ष्मणा से श्रीकृष्ण को प्रघोष, गत्रवण इत्यादि दस पुत्र हुए।
Lakshmana
Lakshmana was the princess of Madra kingdom and was in love with Shrikrishna. Lakshmana’s father organized an archery competition to select a suitable groom for his daughter.
Everyone in attendance including Jarasandh and Duryodhan failed the test. When Arjuna found out that his friend Shrikrishna wanted to marry Lakshmana, he deliberately lost the competition and Bhima decided to not participate at all. In the end Shrikrishna won the competition and married Lakshmana.
When Shrikrishna came to meet Kunti and Pandav in Indraprastha along with his wife, this story was told by Lakshmana to Draupadi.
Lakshmana gave Shrikrishna ten sons.
