Chandrakant Mandhare was a well-known Marathi Film actor and an artist. He played different roles in Marathi films and devoted his life to art. He was a master in paintings and powder shading. He started his career in 1935 with a movie called Sawkari Paash. His last movie was Bangarwadi in 1995. His roles as Chatrapati Shivaji Maharaj and Chatrapati Sambhaji Maharaj are still considered to be benchmarks in the films industry. He is one of most handsome Marathi heros appeared on the silver screen. His brother Suryakant was also a famous actor. He later devoted his life to paitings and art and donated his bungalow “Nisarg” and all his paintings to the Government of Maharashtra to start a museum. He died on 17 February 2001.
