Description

Ep. 70 Discover the power of emotional regulation to build better relationships with yourself and others with DBT: Dialectical Behavior Therapy.

DBT is a therapy used to treat people with Borderline Personality Disorder, Depression, and Generalized Anxiety. DBT helps to reprogram your brain by focusing on today and making better decisions based on the information at hand. It also helps with emotional regulation, which is something I have been working on.

"Giving yourself that time to pause, to do that mental work, may take time to get to that place. Many folks are quick to respond, quick to have that instantaneous reaction in that 5 seconds to pause. Pausing saves lives and relationships, and we're all about building better relationships."

To help with this, I have been using a workbook that helps to break down emotions into different buckets, and to identify the emotions associated with traumatic events or with life in general. It helps me to pause and think before reacting, and it gives me a way to process the emotions I'm feeling.

In this episode, you will learn the following:

What is Dialectical Behavior Therapy and how can it help with mental health conditions?

How can understanding emotions help reprogram the brain and build better relationships with yourself?

What is the process of emotional regulation and how can it help with trauma recovery?
