“Pray for the best but prepare for the worst” is what Hugh Jackman’s character advises his son in Prisoners, Dennis Denis Villeneuve’s 2013 thriller. And “the worst” is what we get: this is another intense movie, like Dear Zachary or Zodiac, that you can’t indiscriminately recommend to anybody around the water cooler.
