Description

Jess Buchanan was working as an aid worker in the Eastern horn of Africa when, in October 2011, her and her colleague Poul Hagen Thisted were kidnapped by Somali pirates. By the time she and her colleague were kidnapped by the US Navy's SEAL Team Six, she had been kept as a hostage for 93 days whilst negotiations for millions of pounds in ransom ultimately failed.
Daisy Maskell sits down with Jess Buchanan to talk about her life before, during and after the kidnapping, how she survived with little food and water whilst being held hostage, and how those 93 days shaped the rest of her life.
