Today I want to talk about the importance of having fun. I share my son’s journey in rodeoing and going from the top in his age bracket, where he was very competitive, to the bottom of a new age bracket, where he’s up against some very handy, tough, and older boys.
We take practice and being competitive very seriously in our family, but sometimes it’s a fine line between focusing so heavily on winning, that you can lose the element of fun while you do it.
Having fun builds confidence and having confidence is what creates that competitive spirit. It all goes hand in hand. So often the things we love doing turn into a job and we lose the element of fun. External factors and stress creep in, and we lose the love because the fun is lost.
This episode is a good reminder to ask yourself: are you having fun?
