Growing up in Long Island, NY, I wasn’t exposed to too much Mexican music, not any actually. It wasn’t until I moved to Texas that I started hearing it, and I took a huge liking to Duranguense music ! I was obsessed with bands like Alacranes Musical, and the sounds were always so energetic and wild to me! That’s why, it was sooo cool having Marlon Omar Valenzuela as a guest on The Public Affair, who’s the lead singer of the up and coming Duranguense group Tamborazo Herradura! I asked him to sing on the spot, and with no hesitation he belted out a song for us on the show, which did something to my whole body . It was also lit learning about his early DJ’ing career, and how that party/night time lifestyle almost consumed his being!
