This week we meet Grant Smith and Andrew Newton, the founders of Two Mates Brewing in Lismore.
The brewery - built on the ambition of becoming the hub and meeting place for its local community, opened late last year after a fairly fraught and extended development process, not too dissimilar from many breweries in planning, and conversations about building a brewery are often a great insight for others planning their own and so could have been a good conversation all of its own.
This conversation has an added dimension though. Immediately welcomed by the locals, the brewery had barely found its rhythm when it was devastated by this year’s floods.
So bad was the damage that it looked like the brewery may not reopen. But it has.
This is a conversation about hockey, mates, family, beer, community and also resilience…all the best things that we love about this industry.
I hope you enjoy it - and are as inspired by it - as I was.
