Shrek changed animation forever in 2001 when it won the first ever Academy Award for Best Animation Feature Length Film. In addition to pulling a $500 million box office and becoming the highest selling DVD of all time, Shrek has a terrific story with excellent characters. Pixar subverted and spoofed fairytales to give us something fresh in the genre and created one of the most beloved franchises in cinema.
