In this episode, Jeannette talks to Mike Ruddock OBE, one of the most famous Welsh rugby union coaches of all time. What Mike doesn't know about rugby and creating high performing teams isn't worth knowing. Mike coached the Welsh national team to enormous success, as well as coaching Lansdowne FC, being the Director of Rugby at Worcester Warriors and today working with the Ospreys.
Just a few of Mike's accolades include Coaching Swansea RFC to two Welsh Championships and a Welsh Cup triumph in 1995, coaching Swansea RFC to a historic win over the Australian National team in 1992 as well as being Head Coach of the Welsh Rugby team that won the 6 Nations in 2005 (winning their first Welsh Grand Slam in 27 years).
He and Jeannette discuss his early life and how an industrial accident stopped his playing career at the age of 25, an event that led to his becoming a coach. He explains what that accident and working as a coach taught him about success and leading a happy life. They discuss what it takes to build a winning team and equip everyone to be able to fill other roles and progress throughout their life.
