In this episode, Ariel is joined by Karen Solomon to talk about the power of confidence and how that shows up in a variety of different ways in relating, being authentic and how we show up. Karen is the author of ‘Sexy, Sassy and Starting Over’ and is an intimacy and relationship coach who teaches men and women the keys to confidence from the bedroom to the boardroom.
KEY TAKEAWAYS
My very first client back in the 80s was a friend how had no idea how to dress, so I took him shopping and spent $1200 on clothes and I organised his wardrobe, and he became a completely different human. His family asked if he’d won the lottery, he was being more successful with women, just from going shopping. This is why I do the work.
When men doubt themselves, they tend to doubt their ability to produce something, when women doubt ourselves, we doubt our attractiveness – not just about how we look, but attracting. If a guy is doubting himself about his production, tell him something awesome about his production.
It’s all about communication. If I want a man to touch me in a different way than he’s touching me, or to get him to wipe the counters as well as doing the dishes, I can’t say ‘what’s wrong with you, why didn’t you wipe the counters?’ Say ‘wow, thanks for doing that, awesome job, would you be willing to wipe the crumbs before you come up?’ I appreciated, I made a request, I thanked him for hearing the request – ART: Appreciate, Request, Thank.
Being truly in communication means that everything that needs to be said about appreciating a particular, intimate person in your life, that isn’t so easy to say because you’re afraid of their reaction but they really need to hear. I teach skillsets where you learn the exact way to appreciate someone using a script, as goofy as that sounds.
BEST MOMENTS
“I had an epiphany at a tantra event where I was a puddle on the floor crying because of the deep connection I had in 2 hours with people I’d never met before that had nothing to do with having sex but everything to do with being seen and seeing, and relief and joy at what might be possible for me.”
“Girls have ‘innies’ that attract and boys have ‘outies’ that produce.”
“We all have different superpowers, so how about we say nice things to each other? Don’t take each other for granted.”
“Pay attention to your partner.”
