Description

On this episode of Woman Power Zone, Ariel talks about the power of the word ‘yes’, but to talk about the power of yes she also needs to talk about how people live in a place of ‘no’ and negativity.
KEY TAKEAWAYS
Some people say not to everything and expect things not to work out, there’s always a reason why newness is a bad thing. A lot of us live our lives in the past, something bad, negative, unpleasant, painful or difficult happened and we developed an avoidance coping strategy to avoid anything that could possibly lead to a similar experience. So, we say no to experiences that could be helpful or help us grow or have the life that we’re looking for. We also act like the thing in the past, that we’re trying to avoid, will happen again, which is crazy.
We need to embrace the power of yes and open up to new possibilities. The power of yes is where we’re open to accomplishing a goal, even though it looks like there are a million obstacles in the way, and we say yes to doing the things that make that goal happen.
To be in the power of yes, we need to let go of our emotional negativity, fear and holding on to the past. Ironically, even though holding onto the past gives us nothing we often seek the security of the known of negativity rather than the unknown of positivity and what good things could happen. A lot of people seek security above all else, they have to let go of their tendency of seeking security in order to open up to the power of yes.
We’ve all experienced negative states, it’s a part of life, I’m not suggesting that you’re always going to be in a positive state. However, when you’re in a negative state, you’re going to want to shift yourself out of that and into something else. Think about a situation you have and notice your thoughts about it. Do you just assume it’s not going to work out? When you’re thinking that way, instead, ask yourself “is there a possibility that this could turn out another way?” If you keep focussing on that and imagine other outcomes that are positive, imagining that can shift the energy of your internal experience which can sometimes affect your external experience.
BEST MOMENTS
“People limit themselves and shut down their energy flow and don’t get to live a life that’s positive or lift themselves up or opening to another space of possibility where something else could show up. After doing this for a number of years people start to live a very closed life.”“If we assume the things we do now will lead to the same outcome of things that happened in the past we could end up creating a self-fulfilling cycle of creating outcomes and ironically creating the negative experience that we didn’t want to create before.”“The power of yes is a belief that with inspired action you can get something done. It’s not a catchphrase, it’s a perspective of openness.”“Contemplating new conclusions builds different neural pathways in your brain and also lowers stress hormones in your blood.”
