Folks, the time is officially here. It’s that time of the year when the national spotlight shines on the MAC, when the entire football watching world watches the best little conference in the midwest.
Midweek MACtion is back folks!
Before we get to any game previews, the boys open the show this week by taking a look back at the week that was. Steve gives his performance of the week to Rocky Lombardi and the Northern Illinois passing attack, who accumulated 351 yards through the air in the Huskies thrilling 39-38 comeback win over Central Michigan. Zach was most impressed with Eastern Michigan, who used a strong performance from QB Ben Bryant to throttle Bowling Green 55-24. The Eagles now sit 5-3 (2-2 MAC), and this very well may be Chris Creighton’s best squad in his time in Ypsilanti.
The boys are in agreement that Bowling Green gave us the most disappointing performance of the week in the aforementioned 55-24 blowout loss to Eastern Michigan. After a strong start to the season, the Falcons have really regressed in the past three weeks. This performance against EMU was especially disheartening. The Falcons defense, which started the year very strong, but allowed 455 total yards to the Eagles.
To close out the show, the boys take a look at the upcoming MAC match ups. Buffalo and Bowling Green are the sole Saturday game this week, with the other five games taking place on Tuesday and Wednesday night. Western Michigan and Central Michigan will compete in their annual Battle for the Victory Cannon, while Miami travels to Ohio in the storied Battle of the Bricks rivalry. In what may be the most intriguing game of the midweek slate, Northern Illinois travels to northeast Ohio to take on Kent State in a match up between two MAC title game hopefuls.
Next week, we’ll release our episode on Monday, November 8th, as there are no MAC games on the slate next Saturday. Enjoy all the MACtion in the meantime, and we’ll talk to you then!
