It's Wednesday and you know what that means: An all new Aaron Torres Podcast. Aaron discusses the flawed College Football Playoff rankings, what's next after Ohio State and Michigan have to cancel and Urban Meyer's future after turning down Texas. Then he transitions to college basketball where Duke was once again blown out of the gym by Illinois. Here's a rundown of today's show:
CFB Playoff ranking mess, Ohio State-Michigan canceled, Urban Meyer: Aaron opens the show by taking a quick spin across the world of college football. He begins with the flawed playoff rankings, where Ohio State held steady but Cincinnati dropped a spot after missing a game, and Iowa State moves up after beating nobody. Clearly the system is rigged against the little guy and Aaron is frustrated about it (3:30). From there he transitions to the cancellation of Ohio State-Michigan (15:00). With the game off, will the Big Ten make an exemption to get them in the Big Ten title game and how strong is their resume really? Also, was Tuesday's press conference the last time we see Jim Harbaugh as Michigan coach? Finally Aaron discusses Urban Meyer turning down Texas and why this probably really does signal the end of his college coaching career (33:30).
Duke stinks, and the rest of the college hoops night: Finally, Aaron turns to basketball, where Duke lost again and it became official: The Blue Devils flat out stink (43:00). Aaron explains why Duke has similar problems to Kentucky, and just frankly isn't all that good. He also wonders why everyone doubted Illinois after their loss to Baylor, whether Iowa is the most explosive offensive team in college hoops and discusses the vastly improved North Carolina Tar Heels.
